January 31, 2017

Rick Gomez is now executive VP and CMO for Target and will oversee brand positioning and integration of all marketing programs.

In his role, Gomez will also direct media strategy, marketing communications, guest research, loyalty as well as corporate social responsibility and report directly to Target CEO Brian Cornell, according to a press release.

"Rick has a deep understanding of the retail marketplace and brings an analytical, strategic and collaborative approach to the work he leads to reach our guests and drive the business. As our new chief marketing officer, Rick will build on Target's history of world-class marketing to drive traffic, sales, guest loyalty and brand equity during a time of rapid retail change," Cornell said in the release.

Gomez joined Target four years ago and "championed" the brand's emphasis on more personal guest research and the establishment of Target's Guest Center of Excellence. He worked at PepsiCo, Quaker Oats and MillerCoors prior to joining Target.
