Target to get geeky with new partnership pilot

August 27, 2012

Shoppers at Denver-area Target stores will have extra help in solving electronics problems. Starting in late October, the Geek Squad will be available 80-hours per week in all 28 Target stores throughout Denver, white shirts and clip-on black ties included.

Scott Nygaard, Target's vice president of electronics, told the Denver Post that Target pursued the Geek Squad partnership because of the blurring line between mobile and home electronics.

"What we are looking to do is to really include all of the services that a typical guest could get at any Geek Squad in a Target store," said Scott Nygaard in the article. "These will be Geek Squad employees that are Geek Squad-trained and have all the same expertise."

After the six-month trial, which is expected to benefit from Best Buy’s reputation for customer service, Target will decide on whether it will take the partnership nationwide.
