Tesco extending 'Scan-as-you-shop' program to 100 more stores

June 11, 2014

Self-service technology provider Re-Vision has announced that after completing a successful 200-store rollout during 2012–13, Tesco have made the decision to extend the rollout of the Scan-as-you-shop solution to another 100 UK stores by the end of 2014.

Tesco introduced the new shopping concept to customers under the “Scan-as-you-shop” name in January 2010. Since that time, monitoring the performance of the system has shown that the relaxed shopping experience offered to larger basket shoppers promotes Tesco’s service-driven and customer-oriented philosophy, and has increased customer loyalty, according to the companies. The program utilizes the MC17T retail mobile computer from Motorola.

"The decision to proceed with Re-Vision and Motorola was made after considerable research into the solution," said Sally Marriott, retail development IT director at Tesco. "The value they bring to the project is in their expertise in personal shopping solution implementation and by a scalable, enterprise-class solution and experience in working with large retail organizations. These factors coupled with strong cooperation made the project very straightforward and we are confident that our partnership will continue to be successful."
