First Tesla announced it was closing most of its store locations and becoming a pure e-commerce play.
Then it reversed course and has now decided to keep "significantly more stores open" than initially stated.
The turnabout, according to a New York Times report, wasn't explained in detail by the car maker which launched 27 sales and service sites in the last quarter of 2018. One reason may be that a majority, 78 percent, of orders for its Model 3 have been placed online.
Tesla, on its company blog, noted it has closed 10 percent of its locations due to slow foot traffic.
