Graduate students in Texas Tech University's hospitality and retail management master's program will have an opportunity to pitch their idea for the store of the future to executives at Walmart's Bentonville, Ark. headquarters.
According to an article on everythinglubbock.com, seven students will present their research and recommendations for a new prototype store, with a focus on "flexible fulfillment," in which consumers seek a quick and easy shopping experience.
"It's really a unique challenge. No other university will have this opportunity. It's unprecedented," said Deborah Fowler, advisor for the master's program. "Walmart has hired many of my students who have gone through this class. If the students can survive the process, nothing can compare to the experience this gives them."
