Trader Joe’s not adopting self-checkout any time soon

Supermarket Trader Joe's has no plans, if ever, to deploy self-checkout kiosks to its stores.

That's the clear message Preisdent Jon Basalone sent during a company podcast talk, called "Inside Trader Joe's," according to a Business Insider report.

"That's as false as false can be," Basalone said according to the news outlet. "We believe in people. We're not trying to get rid of our crew members for efficiency's sake."

CEO Bryan Palbaum echoed his statement, noting "self-checkout is work."
