Walgreen Co. is piloting a program to hire cognitively and physically disabled employees in its stores across the country, according to a story on ChicagoBusiness.com.
About 50 percent of the staff at the company's distribution centers in South Carolina and Connecticut is comprised of disabled workers, CEO Greg Wasson said at the Executives' Club breakfast Thursday at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago.
Wasson also spoke about the company's social responsibility initiatives, highlighting the company's work to bring more fresh food options into its stores in Chicago's food deserts.
