Charles Redfield, Walmart's chief merchandising officer for its U.S. division, is leaving the job as of May 1.

Redfield has worked for the top retailers for over three decades and will serve in an advisory role, according to a CNN report. He is reportedly resigning to spend more time with family after serving in the merchandising leadership job for just over a year.

His first job with Walmart was as a cashier at the retailer's wholesale club, Sam's Club.

The news comes just over a week after Walmart announced plans to have 65% of stores serviced by automation by the close of its fiscal 2026 in a quest to boost online order delivery speed.
