Today's shoppers are not only "nuanced in their expectations," but are in the driver's seat of the retail transacation, according to industry leaders that attended the CNBC Evolve Conference held in New York this month.
Consumers, according to Ron Johnson, former CEO of J.C. Penney and ex senior vice president of Apple's retail unit, are responding to innovative business models and their tolerance for a bad customer experience is at zero, according to a CNBC report. That means retailers must be great every time, Johnson said.
"We see consumers really driven by ease," said Susan Tynan, founder and CEO of framing start-up Framebridge, according to CNBC.
