Faculty and students who love to order via Amazon will soon have a handy free pickup location as the mega etailer plans to open a mini distribution side at The University of Texas at Austin.
The Amazon@UT Austin will be housed in the Gregory Gymnasium on campus come this summer and is the first Amazon pickup site in Texas. Consumers can also use the site for product returns.
"This partnership with Amazon is one more way that the university is providing value to our campus community. With the pickup location in the heart of the UT Austin campus, this enhanced service will benefit our students, offering them a convenient and secure place to pick up their merchandise. Faculty and staff will also be able to take advantage of the service," said Gage E. Paine, VP for student affairs at The University of Texas at Austin, in an announcement.
While it's the first campus pickup site in Texas, Amazon's been busy setting up such product distribution sites at campus locations nationwide, including Purdue University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, University of California, Berkeley, as well as in the college communities of University of California, Santa Barbara and University of Cincinnati. This year it also plans to open locations at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California, Davis.
