Top worldwide ecommerce player sees 40 percent jump in sales orders compared to a year ago.

Cyber Monday was a lucrative one for Amazon and its sellers as the etailer enjoyed a 40 percent spike in orders compared to a year prior, with more than 23 million items purchased worldwide.
Overall for 2015 Amazon delivered more than one billion items, according to a company release.
"It's never been easier for sellers, local merchants and artisans to grow their businesses on Amazon," said Peter Faricy, VP for Amazon Marketplace, in the release. "In fact, sellers added more new selection and shipped more items than in any previous year. We’re excited to build on that momentum as we continue to innovate on behalf of sellers and customers."
In terms of services expansion Amazon had a busy 2015. It launched Handmade at Amazon, featuring more than 200,000 genuinely handmade items crafted and sold directly from artisans an Amazon Home Services, providing on-demand professional services, backed by Amazon's Happiness Guarantee. The Amazon Business marketplace provides sellers the opportunity to grow their sales by reaching business customers. The Amazon Exclusives store gives customers direct access to innovative new products from more than a hundred up-and-coming brands.
