Amazon is speaking to people about bringing its Amazon Go cashierless technology to other retailers such as airport shops and movie theaters, according to a CNBC report.
The strategy would boost Amazon's cloud business while also driving a new line of business revenue that wouldn't involve having to build more of its own retail stores. Amazon operates 16 branded Go stores where customers can shop without having to check out at a cashier.
The company is negotiating to deploy Go technology into OTG's CIBO Express stores at airports and Cineworld's Regal theaters, according to CNBC. Another CNBC source said Amazon is also considering deployments at baseball stadium concession stands.
The plan is to begin installing the technology in the first quarter of 2020 and have hundreds working by the end of 2020, according to the report.
