Amazon plans to open its fifth fulfillment center in Texas. The latest one is set to open in San Marcos. The other four are located in Schertz, Coppell, Haslet and Dallas. The latter is still under construction.
Amazon employs more than 3,500 full-time workers and states it has invested more than $400 million in Texas.
"We have found a dedicated and enthusiastic workforce in Texas that has supported our growth throughout the state," said Mike Roth, Amazon's VP of North American operations, in an announcement.
Amazon employees at the 855,000 square-foot San Marcos fulfillment center will pick, pack and ship smaller customer items, such as books, electronics and toys.
