Amazon is prepping a new consumer device and busy hiring staff for a new meal delivery service debuting initially in New York and Seattle, according to published reports.
A $50 tablet, with a launch supposedly scheduled in time for the big holiday sales seaon, will feature a 6-inch screen and a mono speaker, reports a Reuters report in the Wall Street Journal. The tablet is just the first of three the mega online retailer will release.
Simultaneously Amazon is prepping a new meal-delivery service via a new company division that will be initially launched via restaurants in New York and Seattle, claims a Reuters report.
The new business enterprise, to be called Amazon Restaurants, may be tied to another new service effort, called 'Travel,' states the report.
The service effort comes as several various companies, from Uber to newcomers such as Postmates and well-known online names, such as GroupOn, are also reportedly exploring delivery services.
