Amazon Live is Amazon's latest attempt to be the online "QVC" live-streaming video shopping destination, featuring shows focused on everything from Valentine's Day gift options to small business spotlights on gadgets such as "the parenting gamechanger," — a portable movie player.
A peek at the home page reveals nearly 50 videos, including a "Back to Business" live feed and "Today's Deal," along with what's coming later in the day.
Launched quietly late last week, Amazon Live has a prime mobile component, unlike Amazon's earlier forays in video shopping, and Amazon is also putting its small business clientele right into the mix.
The Amazon Live Creator app lets brands broadcast live streams onto the channel via a smartphone. The app is available on iOS.
Amazon is pitching the live stream channel big time to third-party selling partners, noting it's a great way to spur sales, reach more shoppers and engage with shoppers given a live chat feature. It's even providing a marketing tool kit offering analytics and data tracking on aspects such as total views.
In the past, as TechCrunch reported, Amazon launched Style Code Live for a short stint two years ago and has consistently tapped video as a sales tool on Prime Day events as well as its Today's Deal site.
