Amazon is testing its automated checkout technology for larger stores in Seattle, the Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday. The company has used the technology in its Amazon Go stores.
The technology works well in small stores but is harder to use in stores with larger spaces, higher ceilings and more production, the report said.
The checkout-free system allows shoppers to purchase products using a smartphone app which tracks what they remove from the shelves and automatically bills their credit cards.
