Best Buy offering free shipping this holiday season

In what's being viewed as a quest to compete with online powerhouse Amazon, electronics retailer Best Buy is offering free shipping to holiday shoppers.

The promotion, initially run last year, means consumers won't have to order at least $35 in product to get free shipping but will end a week earlier than last year, on December 24, according to a Star Tribunereport.

"We wanted to do it to make sure we remove any barrier people may have to shopping with us during the holidays," Best Buy spokesman Jeff Shelman told the Tribune.
