The cheap-chic style of Canada's Joe Fresh retail chain is setting up shop in approximately 700 newly renovated JC Penney stores, according to ctvnews.ca.
The introduction of the Joe Fresh boutique stores inside the struggling JC Penney chain is a move by CEO Ron Johnson to draw in younger, hipper shoppers, the article reported. But investors are skeptical of Johnson's strategy.
"Over the last 10 years, [JC Penney] has had a really tough time," said Doug Stephens, retail industry analyst and author of "Retail Revival," in the article. "[Johnson] is in a really tough position. Since he came in, the vision hasn't materialized."
