Cooler Screens, a digital screen vendor that sells ad space on refrigerator door screens, is suing Walgreens claiming the pharmacy chain reneged on a national rollout project involving 2,500 stores.
Walgreens had deployed Cooler Screens on some cooler doors but removed them stating the technology did not work, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
"Customer experience is a top priority for Walgreens, and we terminated our contract with Cooler Screens earlier this year due to their failure to meet contractual obligations," Walgreens Senior Communications Director Emily Hartwig-Mekstan told the WSJ.
In court documents filed in response to Cooler Screen's suit, Walgreens said the technology proved frustrating to customers and even potentially dangerous, according to the report.
