Handbags ruled in Mom's day shopping this year

June 7, 2017

When it comes to buying something for mom on her special day, a good number of consumers hit the handbag and purse aisles, according to a new research from Loop Commerce.

Accessories ruled, followed by apparel, health and beauty, and footwear product choices.

Loop Commerce evaluated purchases made through its network of leading retailers and brands including Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Coach, and American Giant.

The research also revealed men spend more on Mother's Day gifts, about 42 percent more than women. This year's consumers were also hitting mobile devices on the shopping quest, with 76 percent browsing online via the device versus 24 percent hitting the desktop PC. Yet most online purchases are still being transacted on desktops with mobile device purchases representing 40 percent of transactions.
