The operator of a fish farm in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, has been selling locally produced vegetables and shellfish in a vending machine after losing about half of his restaurant business due to government restrictions, according to a report in The Japan News.
Yoshikazu Hirano, 63, who operates the Nishi-Funabashi Hirano Noen farm launched the machine last April offering mustard spinach, edamame and other products he grows.
A fishery in the same city, Kanehachi Suisan, installed a vending machine in December to sell shellfish. Customers scan a QR code to see recipes and recommendations.
