Latest tech pair-up brings retailers detailed shopper data

September 27, 2012

Irisys Inc., which specializes in thermal technology, and WirelessWerx, which specializes in in-store behavioral analytics, have announced a partnership and a finalized alliance agreement.

Irisys' retail solutions are used primarily to count shoppers and manage front-end traffic through infrared technology that detects body heat, according to the announcement. The data is collected at entrance/exit doors and integrate with data collected at the checkout to predict the number of registers needed in 15- and 30-minute intervals.

WirelessWerx identifies shoppers' mobile phone signals and tracks them as they move throughout the store, providing retailers with detailed shopper traffic patterns.

"The pairing of two highly advanced systems gives retailers something they've never had before – a continuous, door-to-door look at their customers' behavior," said Chris Precious, president, North America, and sales director, Worldwide Sensor Business for Irisys.
