Macy's taps tech for digital scent bars

July 31, 2019

Macy's is aiming to change how it sells fragrance and enhance the customer experience at the same time.

The retailer, according to a U.S. Chamber report, is partnering with Perch to install digital fragrance counters at 34 stores in the U.S.

A fragrance bar is already in place in a New York City, Brooklyn location. Shoppers can spritz a perfume to check out its scent and then immediately, via a digital display, learn everything about it — from ingredients to reviews and even a check-out code.

The goal, according to the report, is to provide guests with an in-store display experience that mirrors the online shopping experience.
