MICRO Systems Inc., a provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, and PayPal will collaborate to integrate PayPal into MICROS' POS platforms, the companies announced.
Under the collaboration, according to a news release, multiple MICROS hospitality and retail point-of-sale platforms in merchant locations around the world will soon be set to work seamlessly with PayPal's mobile application.
"Leveraging the capabilities and infrastructure provided by our MICROS Payment Gateway technology, we were able to quickly integrate PayPal with several popular MICROS hospitality and retail POS platforms, and have the ability to support a mass scale deployment of the solution to merchant locations around the world," Michael Russo, MICROS chief technology officer, food and beverage, said in the release.
Don Kingsborough, vice president, retail services, PayPal, added that MICROS provides PayPal a broader and deeper reach into hospitality and retail verticals, which offers extensive opportunities to build an improved payments experience at the point of sale.
"Through the PayPal mobile experience, millions of active PayPal mobile users can easily locate nearby MICROS clients that enable PayPal online, or in-store," said John Gularson, executive vice president, MICROS e-commerce. "We are happy to provide our clients with yet another innovative way to accommodate the digital wallet consumer, and we look forward to strengthening and expanding our relationship with PayPal."
