Amazon, following an overhaul of its delivery network, claims it's delivering more packages in one day or less and has hit its fastest Prime delivery speeds ever.
The mega omnichannel retailer is planning to double its same-day delivery locations between now and 2025, according to a CNBC report.
Amazon said it hit a big milestone already this year, delivering 1.8 billion units to U.S. Prime members on either a same- or next-day schedule.
The key, according to Udit Madan, Amazon's VP of transportation, has been moving away from a longtime hub and spoke fulfillment network and using a system in which the U.S. network has eight regions and local fulfillment centers.
"We've consistently seen that as we're offering faster speeds, we're actually expanding the consideration set that customers think of us for when they're thinking about their purchases," Madan told the news outlet. "What we're seeing is greater engagement and more purchases from customers."
