The iOS and Android app Shopkick, which enables users to search for items, find out where to buy them and then automatically check in at the brick-and-mortar store for discounts, announced that it is launching in-app purchases.
According to TechCrunch, the addition of in-app purchases will expand the app's revenue stream as well as help stores compete with the monster Internet rival Amazon.
"We're not including Amazon in our app," said Shopkick co-founder and CEO Cyriac Roeding. "Using our app to buy goods means you will be buying goods from the actual stores, not Amazon. We are the anti-Amazon coalition."
