The latest chapter in the Staples-Office Depot merger saga involves the potential spinoff Staples' retail business.
The scenario would involve 1,500 sores and comes after Sycamore Partners' acquisition move to buy Staples for $6.9 billion, according to a New York Post report. Such a move would illustrate the "end of an era," Craig Johnson, Customer Growth Partners president, told the Post. "This is a company that helped create the idea of a superstore. Unfortunately, the concept of a superstore has come and gone," he added.
