Staples taps veteran executive to lead North American retail strategy

Staples has hired on a new North American Retail president, drawing from its internal management ranks.

Steve Matyas was previously president of Staples Canada/Bureau and has an extensive history with the office supply company. During his tenure he has served as president of operations, human resources and store planning, and vice president of sales and operations.

"Steve has over 25 years of deep experience leading Staples Canada, and a proven track record of delivering profitable growth and innovation," said Shira Goodman, interim CEO, in a release.
