Target tears a page from Apple's design book

October 17, 2013

Apple's store design has become as ubiquitous as the iPhone itself. Best Buy has tapped into Apple's minimalistic, hands-on approach to merchandising and now there's news that Target has done the same at select stores around its hometown of Minneapolis.

According to an article on startribune.com, Target has remodeled several electronics departments to reflect the interactive atmosphere of an Apple store, complete with blaring white, waste-high tables dotted with electronic merchandise for customers to touch and test.

"Guests are looking for more interactive ways to make purchasing decisions about the latest technology," Target spokeswoman Erica Julkowski, wrote in a statement.

No word yet on if and when Target executives will decide to bring the idea to the rest of its approximately 1,800 stores nationwide.
