Walgreens taps Theatro voice assistant for associate communication

July 30, 2019

Walgreens is using Theatro's voice intelligent assistant technology to provide associates greater communication capability.

The Theatro "software and mobile hardware as a service" uses AI technology and will be deployed at the drugstore chain's 9,560 stores, according to a press release. Walgreens plans to have the technology in place at 1,000 locations this year.

The service allows Walgreens store team members to communicate easier and quicker, which the chain said will lead to an enhanced health care and retail experience for customers.

"As we transform our stores into modern neighborhood health destinations, it's critical that we enable our store teams to enhance the experience for customers and patients," said Richard Ashworth, president of operations, Walgreens, in the release. "Technology solutions like Theatro allow us to communicate the changes we're making directly and regularly with our team members, keeping them up-to-date and able to continue to offer great customer service."
