Enhancing Visitor Experience at Nationalgalerie Berlin with eyefactive's Touchscreen Software

eyefactive transforms Nationalgalerie Berlin's visitor experience with bespoke touchscreen solutions. Cutting-edge technology and innovative software redefine engagement, setting new standards in cultural interaction.

September 2, 2025

In March 2022, Polyform, a Visual Communications Agency reached out to eyefactive with a unique project proposition from the Nationalgalerie Berlin. The challenge was to create an engaging and informative digital experience for museum visitors, seamlessly integrating hardware and software to present a diverse range of exhibits and historical content.

  • Boosted visitor engagement through interactive touchscreen content

  • Created deeper exhibit connection with quizzes and 3D models

  • Reached diverse audiences via multilingual accessibility

  • Educated and entertained through dynamic digital storytelling

  • Led to strong feedback and future collaboration plans

The Nationalgalerie Berlin sought a solution to digitally showcase various exhibits, their histories, restoration processes, and engage visitors with interactive elements such as quizzes and coloring activities. The primary goal was to enhance the overall visitor experience, encouraging interaction and exploration within the museum.

eyefactive, in collaboration with Polyform, developed an individual touchscreen software solution using the eyefactive touchscreen app platform and the AppSuite no-code content management software. The solution incorporated a 55-inch Multi-Touchscreen table, providing a dynamic and interactive platform for museum-goers.

Software

Multilingual content in German and English made information on exhibits, their history, and restoration processes accessible to a broader audience. A built-in QuizMe App allowed visitors to test their knowledge and get instant feedback, encouraging deeper engagement.

For children, the ColourArtist App provided a fun way to redesign a princess group with their own colors. Finished artworks could be sent home via email – a personal and creative takeaway.

Content was structured into six main categories with rich media: images, videos, and interactive 3D models powered by apps like ClickThrough, MediaBrowser, and HotSpots. A before/after image carousel visualized detailed restoration steps, while an embedded documentary film offered deeper insight.

An interactive scrollable timeline traced each exhibit’s journey from 1795 to today, highlighting their historical relevance. 360° 3D models offered immersive, touch-enabled views of the artworks, providing a level of detail beyond what’s possible in real life.

Client Feedback

Polyform reported that the Nationalgalerie Berlin was extremely satisfied with the implemented solution. The enhanced digital experience received positive feedback from visitors, encouraging longer stays in the museum. The success of the project prompted discussions about potential future collaborations, with plans for a new project in the upcoming year.

Innovation Highlights

The innovative aspect of the project was primarily attributed to the development of the ColourArtist App, offering a unique and engaging coloring experience for children, adding an interactive dimension to the museum visit.

The collaboration between eyefactive, Polyform Visual Communications Agency, and the Nationalgalerie Berlin resulted in a cutting-edge touchscreen software solution. The integration of interactive features, multilingual content, and innovative apps significantly enhanced the overall museum experience, showcasing the potential of technology to captivate and educate visitors in cultural institutions. The success of the project reinforces the value of incorporating digital solutions to enrich traditional museum settings, opening up new possibilities for audience engagement and exploration.

Our museum is now an exciting place where art and history seamlessly merge thanks to eyefactive. Our expectations were surpassed by the innovative touchscreen solution, which raised the bar for interactive cultural experiences.
