Need live bait? Walmart has a service for that

The aim is to reel in customers who don’t want to get to the local bait shop super early.

Walmart aims to be the place anglers go for nightcrawlers. Or redworms. Or an order of both.

That's the promise of Walmart's newly launched Live Bait Pickup and Delivery Service just as trout season opens in the northeast.

The aim, according to a Walmart spokesperson, is to 'reel' in customers who don't want to get to the local bait shop super early before a fishing expedition. Anglers can place an order online, choosing pickup or a delivery time. Live bait is literally just a click away.

The bait delivery service is now available in 3,827 stores though a Walmart spokesperson couldn't provide how any anglers are in the delivery service area.

"This service is all about convenience for Walmart's customers. Walmart is providing a one-stop-shop for fishing enthusiasts needs," said the spokesperson in an email interview.

"The fishing communities vary by state. We do not have specific numbers," she added.

The new service comes on the heels of a Walmart course on compassion launched for store managers.

In January Walmart declared itself as the top retailer providing drone delivery service.
