Amazon Home Services is expanding nationwide in terms of providers and services, as it begins moving into 15 metro areas, including Atlanta, Boston, Miami and San Diego.
The program, which lets customers choose from both pre-packaged and custom services, is a take-off of sites such as Angie’s List that connect homeowners with professional services companies to get estimates on projects from room painting and central air installation to home entertainment setup.
Pre-packaged services include efforts such as a faucet replacement, TV wall mounting installation and basketball hoop assembly and are backed by Amazon’s "Happiness Guarantee."
"Amazon Home Services makes buying a service as easy as buying a product on Amazon," said Nish Lathia, general manager of Amazon Home Services, in an announcementon the expansion. "We are excited to expand our offers and availability across the country, providing customers with a quick and simple way to purchase services and service pros with a trusted and familiar marketplace to reach local customers. We’re also excited to see the growth in custom service requests with completed projects ranging from central air installation to home entertainment setup."
The full list of expansion areas includes Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, San Jose and Washington D.C., adding to existing availability in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. Amazon Home Services now includes over 15 million unique services across more than 900 professional services.
Amazon debuted the service in March and service professionals are being heartily endorsed, according to the mega online retailer. It offered up some quick stats on its handyman service in the release:
