Amazon is selling its smart grocery cart technology as a service offering and the technology is in play at grocery locations.
Several stores in Kansas and Missouri are currently testing the Dash Cart, according to a CNBC report.
The news comes just weeks after Amazon announced it is pulling out its Just Walk Out cashierless technology in Amazon Fresh stores being revamped and will not be deploying the technology in new stores.
There are more than 130 third-party Just Walk Out technology locations in the U.S., U.K., Australia, and Canada, according to an Amazon spokesperson.
The omnichannel retailer debuted the Dash Cart four years ago at its Amazon Fresh stores before expanding it to a small portion of Whole Foods sites, a supermarket brand it acquired several years ago.
