According to TechNewsDaily.com, Home Depot announced its first mobile barcode program, which allows customers to take a picture of a 2-D barcode, known as a QR code, with their smartphones to instantly watch product videos, read product reviews and purchase items.
The QR codes will be featured in print ads, on the company’s website and on shelves within the stores. The codes will also offer promotions and discounts on selected Home Depot products and a one-click option to buy.
"We know our customers are already using their mobile device to assist in the purchasing process, and now Home Depot is embracing this technology to more closely connect our stores and customers to our digital content," said Tom Sweeney, senior director of online strategy for HomeDepot.com.
Home Depot’s codes can be scanned using the ScanLife app, provided by ScanBuy, which can be downloaded at HomeDepot.com/scan or via text by texting HDscan to 43588.
