J.C. Penney is hoping Thanksgiving Day shoppers will want an earlier jump time than 5 p.m. and is opening its doors to accommodate those consumers eager to find a bargain.
The retailer will open at 3 p.m. on turkey day, two hours before fellow retailers Best Buy and Toys-R-Us, according to a Milwaukee Business Journal report.
Last year the retailer opened closer to competitors' time of 6 p.m. by opening its doors at 5 p.m.
Target, Kohl's, Macy's and Sears are all opting for a 6 p.m. Thanksgiving opening. A few retailers, online and offline, have already kicked off the popular "Black Friday" season. Walmart has not yet publicly indicated what its Thanksgiving shopping and Black Friday hours will be.
