According to the New York Times, Meebo, a social platform that connects users with friends across the Web, now offers a new feature that allows users to "check-in" on websites, similar to the Facebook Places check-in.
“If you’re a daily user of a website, most of the time they treat you pretty anonymously,” said Martin Green, president of Meebo.
The check-in feature also will allow "V.I.P." visitors to follow one another and get a feed of websites that other users are checking into. Users can earn rewards from businesses and suggestions for content they may be interested in.
The check-in feature will be rolled out to websites in the Meebo network, beginning with PepBoys.com and Geekosystem.com.
