Craft retailer Michaels is debuting an experiential store format featuring hubs for creativity and celebration.
The new store format comes on the heels of Michaels expanding in-store merchandise stock and introducing fresh florals in hundreds of stores, according to a Martha Stewart.com report.
A store location, in the Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio, features the updated model that will roll out to more than 1,300 stores across North America. Sic are slated for Central Ohio, according to the news report.
"The new store is an exciting milestone within Michaels' broader transformation to redefine the customer experience and evolve from a retail store into a destination for creativity and celebration," Michaels CEO Dave Boone told MarthaStewart.com. "It was designed with our customers in mind and offers more creative inspiration, more hands-on experiences, as well as elevated in-store events and services."
The updated store format offers personalization services, a 'swatch' bar for touching and feeling fabric, a jewelry creation bar and even a marker bar for customizing markers.
The store also features curated product displays as well as updated party and event spaces.
The retailer is also deploying DIY bars where shoppers can mix and match to make customer party favors, a candy bar and a banner bar, for making personalized banners.
