Nordstrom may not be popular with President Donald Trump but it is among consumers, ranking tops as the favorite fashion retailer for the fifth year in a row in Market Force Information's annual survey.
It took top honors for its service, ambience, value and ease of shopping, according to a WWD report.
Dillard's landed second in the survey, which polled 10, 714 adults last December, with T.J. Maxx in third. Dillard's was cited as having a good "look" and making it easy for customers to find their needed size. Merchandise selection was the key winning factor for T.J. Maxx.
"Sales associates are the front-line representatives for retailers, and how they engage with customers can make or break the shopping experience and impact sales," Cheryl Flink, chief strategy officer for Market Force Information, said in the WWD report. "The research shows that 90 percent of customers who were assisted by a sales associate bought something. When customers were not assisted, only 82 percent made a purchase. That 8 percent difference in conversion rate is a key reason why fashion retailers need to invest in their sales staff."
The survey also reveals consumer confidence remains high, with 40 percent of consumers expecting the economy to grow this year.
