Report: Omnichannel retailers will likely be operating one channel by 2027

June 20, 2017

If a new research report proves correct, there won't be many omnichannel retailers operating at the close of the next decade.

Most stores now operating both online and off will shutter physical doors and move forward with an online only business model within 10 years, according to new research from GetApp.

Two out of three omnichannel retailers expect the scenario to happen, states a release on the report.

Here are two additional findings:

  • Only 4.4 percent of business owners think it is extremely unlikely that they will only operate an online business within the next 10  years.
  • Just over 17 percent of business owners remain neutral about the possibility of closing their physical stores.

The research polled over 200 U.S.-based business respondents operating both an online and physical store. Respondents were all aged over 18 and have an average inferred annual income of $24,000 to $150,000.
