A new study reveals that 75 percent of the top U.S. retailers have at least one thing in common: they've deployed proximity technologies as part of their marketing strategy.
The list includes Home Depot, Wal-Mart and The Kroger Company as well as Dell, Lord &Taylor and Coca-Cola.
Retailers can boost profit by almost 9 percent and see a return on investment of 175 percent in deploying beacon technology, according to a press release about the report from Proximity Directory.
"E-commerce is growing exponentially. Amazon is eating retailers' lunch as they have a tremendous amount of data on their customers," Thomas Walle, CEO and co-founder of Unacast, said in a statement on the directory research.
