Target launches drive-up pickup service

April 23, 2018

Target is offering customers a new way to grab what they need from the retailer with its new "Drive Up" service available in Florida, Texas and throughout the Southeast.

Shoppers place their orders via Target's app and then stop by the store at a designated time at which a store associate then delivers the items right to their car within two minutes, according to a Target blog announcement.

The service, while in pilot in Minneapolis last fall, got rave reviews. It's now been rolled out to nearly 270 store with plans to have it available at 1,000 stores nationwide by year's end.

After placing an order via the app Target notifies the customer when the order is ready — typically within one to two hours. The shopper then hits the 'I'm on the way' option on the app as they head to the store, parking in a designated Drive Up spot.

"The Drive Up expansion is another great way we're leveraging stores, supply chain and digital technologies to better serve guests, and making Target the easiest place to shop,” stated the blog.

It's the latest delivery option following same-day delivery by Target and comes at a time when retailers are fighting to provide the most convenient, quickest delivery channel to consumers.
