Wincor powers new Best Buy stores in China

March 31, 2009

PADERBORN — Consumer electronics retailer Best Buy awarded Wincor Nixdorf a contract to open six new stores in China, as part of its strategic expansion program in the world's most populated country. Wincor Nixdorf completed the project in four months to ensure Best Buy's stores were operational in time for the respective official store openings and will continue to provide ongoing support services.

Point of sale systems were installed at the six stores, with Wincor Nixdorf providing the project management for the wireless network and IP telephony system implementation. The Germany-based global provider of end-to-end solutions to retailers and retail banks also provided third-party product procurement and other crucial IT services in the stores.

Wincor Nixdorf provided Best Buy with a consistent and standard IT infrastructure in order for the retailer to concentrate on its core business of servicing end customers. In addition, Best Buy was able to eradicate the need for multiple vendors creating efficiency with a single window of contact with Wincor Nixdorf.

In 2007 Best Buy opened its first store in Shanghai, providing Chinese consumers with a brand new consumer electronics shopping experience compared with what was available in the local market. Best Buy has more than 1,000 stores worldwide.
