The fourth Amazon fulfillment center slated for Ohio will create more than 1,000 full-time jobs when the facility opens in Monroe.
Amazon also recently announced a North Randall center facility, and currently operates centers in Obetz and Etna.
"We are excited to continue growing in Ohio, adding 1,000 new jobs to the more than 6,000 Amazonians already working in the state," said Sanjay Shah, Amazon's vice president of North America customer fulfillment, in a press release. "The support of local leaders and incredible workforce has been instrumental in our decision to locate the new fulfillment center in the state, and we are grateful for the support we've received to bring new jobs and investment to Ohio."
Associates at the 1-million-square-foot facility will pick, pack and ship larger customer items such as sports equipment, gardening tools and pet food.
The online mega retailer also announced plans to open its third Oregon fulfillment center, creating more than 1,000 full-time jobs. When all locations open starting in 2018, the retailer will employ 3,500 full-time associates across the state.
"We announced our second fulfillment center in late August, and today it's exciting to announce our third fulfillment center in Oregon," said Shah in a press release on the Oregon expansion. "Fulfillment centers in the state will increase speed of delivery, expand inventory selection, and provide great Prime membership benefits. We are excited to better serve customers and create 3,500 full-time jobs in Oregon."
