Mother's Day is one of the three favorite sales seasons for retailers, right behind the winter holidays and back-to-school season.
And there's little wonder as it's a universally celebrated day each May and spending on gifts continues to increase each year. Over $20 billion was spent in 2015.
The big plus is that consumers aren't just shopping for mom. As the infographic below, created by The Shelf, clearly illustrates, everyone from daughters to friends are being celebrated. Mother's day beats Valentine's Day in flower sale. Cards, both expressive and monetary gift cards, are the top sellers for mom's day.
