Black Friday will be big for online retailers, claims Salesforce

Nov. 9, 2017

While some reports may be indicating Black Friday is losing its shine at the top shopping day, a Salesforce report expects it to be the busiest digital shopping day in history, with mobile accounting for 60 percent of total traffic to retail sites worldwide.

Black Friday activity will outshine Cyber Monday, according to a press release on the predictions. The report states that the most popular online shopping time will be from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. and that cyber week, the period from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday, will boast the deepest discounts.

"Just like watching television, holiday shopping has moved from an appointment based activity to an on-demand activity," said Rob Garf, vice president, industry insights, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, in the release. "Salesforce expects to see continued growth not only in mobile orders and website visits, but also in newer technologies such as mobile payments and artificial intelligence."
