TechTree (India): BlinkMedia announced plans for its Intelligent Shopping Cart, a battery-powered, tablet-like device that will rest on a shopping cart. Tied to a back-end loyalty system, the screen will display an interactive store map, point out areas of perceived interest and serve up context-sensitive advertising. An RFID-based sensor tracks the shopper's location within the store.
The unit is set to be launched in the first quarter of 2009.
