A cashierless store in San Francisco is working out a few glitches as it strives to best Amazon's Amazon Go.
The Standard Market, according to a New York Times report, lets shoppers grab items and take leave, without even having to go through a turnstile which is the exit strategy at Amazon Go. Operating with limited inventory and in pilot — with short daily hours and a bouncer allowing consumers in — the store operators are striving to eliminate issues such as wrong purchase activity and no charges on merchandise bought.
Just like Amazon Go, Standard Market shoppers use an app and don't have to swipe out on checkout. It's being operated by Standard Cognition, which has already set up four retail chain partnerships worldwide.
