Times Herald-Record: IBM announced a survey of nearly 4,300 U.S. and U.K. consumers that shows purchasing decisions are made across multiple retail channels, including in-store, Web, mobile and catalog. Multi-channel retailing continues to be a leading business strategy adopted by retailers, the report said, and nearly 40 percent of retail sales will be influenced by the Web and cross-channel in 2012.
In 2007, cross-channel shopping accounted for $510 billion or 20 percent of total retail sales; by 2012, that number is projected to be more than $1.1 trillion.
