September is prime time holiday season kick-off time

Retailers aiming to cash in come the lucrative holiday sales season need to be getting in gear now as a new study reveals the arrival of fall is prime time to get the marketing effort going.

July, November and December are 70 percent more expensive to acquire shoppers than in September, according to a new study from Liftoff, an app marketing and retargeting platform. In regard to mobile platforms, September ranked as the third-strongest month in install-to-purchase rate.

Findings revealed spending amounts by consumers are relatively equal for men and women. However, women are 27 percent more likely to purchase through an app within 4.5 days after installing, whereas men typically purchased 2.3 days later, uncovering the need for marketers to engage both parties within the first five days.
